Who do you prefer more Dr.J or Micheal Jordan?

Michael Jordan of course. Although Michael himself admitted that he "evolved" from Dr. J, we can't deny the fact that Jordan had surpassed Erving both as a player and in terms of accomplishments on the basketball court.

They're about equal as far as jumping ability is concerned, but Jordan had performed more aerial and hang-time feats that were nevere before seen until he entered the league. MJ was also quicker, faster and stronger than Dr. J and obviously had a better jump shot, including the fadeaway, which he relied on in his later years. But the most glaring difference, I think, is on defense. Jordan was one of the greatest perimeter defenders ever, and he had the ability to shut down opposing players. Erving played good defense, but not in the league of MJ or Scottie Pippen. Lastly, Michael Jordan's competitive fire and will to win was unmatched and this resulted to 6 championships for the Bulls.

This is not to take away from the greatness of Dr. J, who was the first true ambassador of the game. He was also the epitome of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct on and off the court. And he paved the way for Michael Jordan and the present crop of NBA superstars. In short Dr. J was the first true superstar.

I am a fan of old school but MJ had far greater impact on the NBA than DR J. Dr. J is my #2 player in the NBA. What's funny is that MJ was in UNC when I began to and still do hate anything that is from tarheel country. This caused me not to ride the MJ bandwagon right away. It took me probably halfway thru his career before I came around but I had to give the greatest player that ever played his due.

MJ only because of the rings but there would be no MJ without a Dr. J blazing the trail.
