I'm writing a story and I've seem to hit writer's block. What is an event in life where one would need to overcome fears and be couragous?

Standing up to a bully. Returning fire in a combat zone. Public speaking. Rallying people to believe in their cause again.
Telling the truth, when it gets you in trouble and you didn't have to.
Following your heart when it leads you contrary to your family's interests/desires for you.

I feel you need courage or heroism any time your speaking against the majority.
But they are also needed in many other times in life.

Courage to stop drinking
Courage to stay in school
Courage to confront someone
Courage to love someone who seems unlovable

Hi,, when it would involve the person life in jeopardy to do an unselfish act... of bravery....like save someone in a war.. or a wife lose her life giving birth to a child... ect ect...
