A tailor needs two pieces of fabric, 1 and 2/3 yard long, and 1 and 1/2 yards long, and 3 spools or thread. How much fabric should he buy?

the thread isn't relavent in this case so only add the fabric.
1 2/3 + 1 1/2 =
1 4/6 + 1 3/6=2 7/6 or 3 1/6

u find the least common denominator of 2/3 and 1/2 then add those and i dont think u need too do anything with the 3 spools of thread

1 and 2/3 + 1 and 1/2 -->common denominator of 6
1 and 4/6 + 1 and 3/6 --> add
2 and 7/6 -->improper fraction
3 and 1/6 yds
