I have hard drive faliure. It is a Maxor 80GB Serial ATA 7200/8MB. I was recently setting it up with windows XP pro but suddenly the BIOS didn't detect it at all, it told me to change the boot sequence. The boot sequence was at first with the cd drive and then hard drive before the HDD stop being detected. But now, the hard drive was not detected at all.

Double check the power and data cables before assuming the disk is bad. This is often the case for sudden failures.

Take it to a shop before assuming that the hard drive is bad. I had to re-install an operating system. The hard drive was fine. The operating system simply failed after time.

Sounds like when you set up XP it screwed around with your boot sector. Try re-reinstalling Windows from the CD and see if that helps.
