Naw , it's not cause he's dead either, Mr. Abbott was way better. He was faster, more fluid, more emotion in his playing, more exciting as a player, - hammett? you kiddin? listen to "Kill em All" ! theres more clams on that one than your local seafood store! Dudes a hack compared to Abbott.

In my opinion Kirk Hammett is a better guitarist but most will say Dimebag is better just because he isn't alive anymore so he has that "legend" thing going for him.

good question. Coz certainly Kirk's desirable solos are One and Fade to Black and Dimebag's are Floods and Cemetary gates. Um, i'd could choose for Kirk Hammet whether it is close. BTW opther good solos by skill of Kirk are The 4 Horsemen and The Day That by no skill Comes.

Overall, I'd go with Dimebag. Kirk Hammet is a great guitar player, but I find that his playing is generally emotionless.
Also, I think Dimebag was more versitile than Hammet.
