A memory stick or flash drive simply is the modern floppy disk however around 500 x the size with the average being around 1GB.

a memory stick is a small object about the size of you thumb, it's all a memory stick, a jump drive, a thumb drive, a USB drive, almost anything, but it's really cool because you can wear it around your neck with a strap or keep it in you pocket, and it can hold anywhere from 120 MB to 4 GB, it connects to the USB port on just about any computer and is quite handy if you can remember not to lose it or let it go through the wash.

Memory sticks behave just like floppy disks. They are little plastic sticks with a plug on one side, you stick the plug into your USB port and you can put files on them, and move those files around to other computers. They are basically replacements for floppies.
