Were they given to the families living in the dust bowl, or were sold? Or is it something else?

hahahaha. the previous answer had me rolling on the floor...

Now, back to a possible answer...
I think that the rabbit drives in the 30's were primarily intended to kill off excess rabbits which, due to their appetites and rapid reproduction rates, were eating the grain before harvest. I suspect most of the dead rabbits just rotted; some were no doubt eaten by scavengers and predators, and maybe, some of the dust bowl families got some to eat.

Hope this helps!
