Because it is awesome how you can control people and set up story lines and manipulate people's feelings and stuff. I mean it is like ruling a universe, who wouldn't want to do that???

Not to offend anyone, but it's the "god" complex. You get to run your virtual person's life, day in, day out, within the confines of the game.
You give them jobs, stuff, and deal with every part of their daily routine and even fall in love and have kids, then in turn deal with the kids growing up to adult hood.
To a lot of people, it's inthralling, me included. If you have the time and the inclination, there are very few limits.

Because people find real-time rpgs interesting btw real time rpgs
are games that go on even if you dont play the game like virtual villagers and animal crossing.

Well for one when you first start playing sims you think it is boring, but when you get into it its really FUN to play.....If you don't like anime games you wont like sims.....

you get to contol everything and it's literally addictive. Like i can play it for 3 hours and i feel like i was only playing for 30 minutes.

because people have always wondered what it is like to be "god" and this game gives them the chance to experience what it is like to be "god". and plus people like to design people and houses and control people lives.
