Seeing as Maxine is an ex-ABC journalist I can see it being hard for them to stay neutral, even if it is very subtle persuasion.

The ABC and the s.m.h. are just mouth pieces for the trade union controlled labor party.
They are all badge carrying labour party members. McKew has proven that by going into politics.

Here is another problem we have with national elections, the east coast starts to influence the west by all the reports of polls on the election. Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam close the last of the election and are told who the winner is and people want to vote for a winner. We need a constitution amendment stating that no results, polls, or any other form may report on the election till all polls are closed. making it fair for all to vote.

Lets not forget that one of Howard's biggest supporter was Kerry Packer. The nine network has always been bias toward the Howard Government, or more to the truth is that the Howard network was always bias toward the Packer Government.
The ABC is government run so they will make sure that Max gets next to no coverage.
I hope she kicks his butt, it would be too funny.

It didn't bother anybody that Fox News had George W.'s cousin at the helm, who prematurely called it for GW in 2000, which caused a lot of other news shows to call it for him.

I wouldn't think they had any choice but to stay neutral, but you are right subtle persuasion may happen
