Are you just one of the girls? Is it because you're more sensitive towards a woman's feelings? You understand them? Or simply because you're gay you're considered harmless? I'm just curious, How do you guys do that?

They're often more accepting,

and most of them isn't affected by that "be a real man" crap that makes everyone believe the males HAVE to be strong, ect. which, results battered wives.

And by the way, most gays are less fearful to be attractive, ect.

PS. women know that gay men won't rape them.

I do not particularly seek out women friends, most of my friends are straight males -- however -- my lover and I do have some female friends and generally I think except for the "just one of the girls" thing above, you hit all of the major reasons except one. Gentleness/kindess in general -- a nurturing and caring personality -- much more prevalent among gay men -- and since there is no attached sexual desire -- women love that. I have a friend who came from the middle east (he won't be going back) he is at University. He is gay, very, very sweet, caring, gentle, kind -- now it doesn't hurt that he is, while slight of build (about 5'5" 110 lbs) drop dead gorgeous -- but mostly the sweetness, genorosity and caring are what makes everyone just about at his school (including all the girls) his friends.

I can be myself & not have to worry that whatever I say might seem like a come on. I can tell my best friend things that I wouldn't tell my sister. I don't know why, we just feel comfortable with each other. Another reason is because I don't have to have make up on & have my hair perfect to make sure that he'll like me. When we lived closer my friend used to come over with a cup of coffee to wake me up. If he could stand the look of me first thing in the morning, he's a true friend

I think its mostly the fact that they are non-threatening to us. The things we obsess over - looks, weight - we know they don't care about those things because they aren't looking for those things in us. If a gay man wants to spend time with a woman, he has no alterior motive - he just wants to spend time with her. The affection and attention seems more genuine.

women i know who befriend gay men say they do so because they know that the guy won't hit on them or want more then a friendship. there is that safety/comfort zone..

also, gay men tend to be more comfortable expressing their feminine side, and this makes them more attractive as best friends

well for one I understand them because I enjoy crossdressing and know what it takes and what they go through in getting ready for the day or date. you should try and do some of the things they have to put-up with and maybe you'll understand someone who is sensitive to there needs and wants....

We can relate on the sensetivity level, and we can understand them more than stright men. Plus they dress and groom and keep themselves up sooo much better than a straight man.

Sexually non-threatening sense of 'sisterhood'.
