How do you make those 88 cent toys from Walmart grow bigger?

It was only 88c ... but still. I bought 2 star fish for my kids. The back of the package said to put it in lukewarm water and then it is supposed to grow 600 times the original size.

I did put it in lukewarm water. Its been sitting for a few hours. I've been keeping the water warm, but the only thing that has happened is the star fish is slimy but not any bigger.

Any ideas?

are they the kinds that come in a pill capsule?
try hot water so the capsule will melt, the slime is it melting.
