250-500cc helps you develop the basic skills, most people have too much pride to buy anything under a 600. Take the Safety course and test out the bike they let you use. If you have to get a bigger bike look into the SV or smoe other nakeds that sit a little more upright and give the rider more forgiveness

probably something like a honda or yamaha 250cc. the best price depends on the amount of money you are prepared to spend and whether new or not. Most experienced riders would suggest you get a 250cc bike to stay alive longer. My first bike was a new tw200 dual purpose which cost over 5 grand AU and my 2nd bike is a 2nd hand fzr600 which cost me AU$1750 before I started spending money on service, repairs and new parts.

Depends on alot of factors. How tall you are, your strengenth and what you are comfortable with. I started on a honda dream. 2 years ago my father wanted to learn to ride so I taught him on a 800 vulcan. After he got his license he went and got a 1600 vulcan but still in love with my 800. You just need find your comfort zone and build from there

get the motorcycle that you want - if it is too big, then you will drive slower and get stronger until you can ride it well. my first bike, i shopped around and bought a 1200cc - it was not too much.
i definitely was super glad that i took the motorcycle safety course - it saved my bike a few times.
otherwise, you buy some piece of crap that you don't like and eventually you have to sell it so that you can buy the bike that you like.

If you are under 160lbs. buy the Ninja 250 Sport. $3400.00 new
If you are tall or over 200 lbs. you will need Suzuki 750 or 1000cc.
All bikes are similar, just go slow the first 2 months.
