I don't know where Memorial Heights is, but Memorial is one of the best neighborhoods for the money. You can say River Oaks with its mansions, or West U, too.

Surrounding areas... a buddy of mine just had a house built in Black Horse Ranch off of 290. Great neighborhood, just way out of the way unless you work for HP or TI. First Colony in the far southwest is also nice. There are nice areas down around Clear Lake, too.

NICE:
The Village
Galleria
Highland Village
Memorial Hieghts
Highway 6 (any part of it between Westhiemer and 288)
Sugarland
The woodlands
champion's forrest
katy
cypress
City of bellaire

Horrible:
Acres Home
3rd ward (except by U of h and Mcgregor)
5th ward
I45 (between greens road and W fuqua)
there's more but those are the worst
Sharpstown (and most of the southwest is gang infested. There are exceptions)
