Today I tried to put a load in the dryer (an electric Maytag) and turned it on and it would NOT START.. I opened the dryer and I saw a red glow inside that kind of freaked me out it almost looked like it was going to start fire but when i turn the switch on off it will fade away. We only had this dryer for a year but we use it everyday because there are alot of people in my family. Any ideas what the plm might be and how to get it fixed and how much?

The glow is the heating coil. Does the dryer make noise like the motor is running? I could be the drum drive belt. If the motor does not run it could be the motor. Did you try to turn the drum by hand? It may be stuck. I would pull it out and unplug it, and remove the back panel to see what is going on. If the dryer is only 1 year old it may still be under warrenty.

The glow is the heating core. Sounds like you need to check your Manuel if the heating core is working and the drum isn't spinning.

Sounds like you need a new belt.
