A sample of an unknown compound with a mass of 0.847 g has the following composition: 50.01 percent fluorine and 49.49 percent iron. When this compound is decomposed into its elements, what mass of each element would be recovered?

Multiply 0.5001 by 0.847 to get the F. The rest is Fe.

0.847 x .5001 = F
0.847 x .4949 = Fe
