Their Customer Service dept keep telling me this year's chick days will be like last year's, but i've never bought chicks from them before!! I want to order specific breeds, does anyone know if this is possible?

Because of Avian flu Tractor Supply and other large stores like them- McCoys or Higginbothoms have you order them. Although they can't guarentee the sex of the bird I do believe that they have certain breeds to choose from.
I don't know about your TSC- but mine requires that you have to order at least 25 to have them shipped. If you only want a few you could order the 25 and then turn around and sell them for a profit or if you don't want to do that- get with some other people who want to order chicks and pull the 25 together.
