I have been a piano teacher for 6 1/2 years, seriously. I have a bachelors of music, and I have a few adult piano students who do quite well. It's easy if you find a good teacher and practice every day. If you don't practice daily, you will get frustrated as it becomes difficult. I recommend the Bastien method books for older beginners. Either that or Alfred.

Okay, never say that playing music on ANY instrument is "easy"...
The level of difficulty would only depend on the player, their mindset, their attitude, and diligence. just because piano has only these black and white keys for you to touch does not mean it's "easy".
I'm afraid that I disagree with most of these answerers. It is a common misconception to go around calling piano "easy".
You should not take piano because it is "easy". The only reason you /should/ play an instrument is what you truly feel in your heart. If you want to take piano to enjoy music and show it, you are most likely eligible for the piano...then it will be "easy" to practice everyday and enjoy. If you play the piano simply because your mom forced you or everybody else plays it except for you, or get in a band, get famous, go to Carnegie or something. No offense, but don't even try. You will not survive. If your mom forced you, you wouldn't care, you wouldn't enjoy music and your tone will sound terrible. If you want to go to Carnegie, you're going to have too much stress for nothing, not to mention, a lust for perfection which is good for the piano but also a killer for the pianist as well.
Now if you are determined to play the piano, as if it is the total right instrument fo ryou, go for it. A private teacher can help you to excel even more....And a teacher actually /loves/ students who came only for enjoyment, who actually has a heart for piano...Not only are they going to teach you how to play the notes and rhythm but how to enjoy music and turn the notes into almost like a painting.
But please, if you are going to play an instrument just because of it's level of difficulty (which philosophically, there is no level of difficulty in any instrumnet), please just quit piano. It'll be useless. You will give up eventually one day or you will regret it...

Yes, if you like music and the idea of taking lessons, spending time learning and practicing to get good at it. Guitar is harder than piano; piano is the easiest instrument, because all you do is press the keys down, and pedal.

Piano is relatively easier compared to other instruments, and rewarding results can be obtained with moderate effort.

I don't know how "easy" it is but I feel it's a great idea. You will be happy you did it in the future. Good luck

It might be a little difficult at first, but once you get the basics down and develop the rhythm it's pretty simple (just requires practice).

It might not be "easy", but I am sure if you spend enough time on it, it will be worth it.
