She has a large gash on her side that make her scales puff out a little bit. It looks like somthing peeled away some of the scales. I'm not concerned what happened, I want to know what to do. Please help. Thanks!

As long as this cut doesn't show internal organs it will heal without you doing anything else for it. But just like for people an infection is possible. Change the water and keep it very, very clean for the time it takes to heal the cut. Keep some salt in the water as well. 2 tablespoon per 5 gallons is the right amount to help prevent infections or fungus. Fungus in the wound is the most likely problem you will face. It will appear to be a cotton like growth from the wound and should be treated asap if you see it. Any medication containing Malachite green will treat the fungus well. Many times this is the ingredient in Ick medicines so that would be a good place to start. Doesn't matter what it's sold to treat, it will also treat the fungus.

I would suggest that you raise the heat to around 80 degrees F and get some Maracyn or Maracyn-2 to prevent any secondary infections from making the wound worse. Administer according to directions. Treatment will take a while, so patient and diligent treatment are necessary. You do need to assess why your fish got this wound though, and remove the object that cut it, so it doesn't happen again.

well if the betta is in the tank with othe fish remove it with the same aquarium water treat with a proper antibiotic such as metflex. Or antifungal's. besure temp is correct around 78-80 to prevent any little bugs from growing. use aquarium salt to creat natural defense and body coating.

You need to just make sure to keep her in clean water. I would keep her in store bought bottled water or water that is boiled and let back to room temperature. The main concern is infection. I used to have a betta named Finmane. So, I understand your concern.
