On the scale from 1-10, violin is probably 9. Most instruments have keys, frets, holes to cover, ect. so you know where to put your fingers to get what sounds. however, violin, cello, viola, bass have no such niceties. Most really good people either have a REALLY good ear, tons of experiance and practice, or both. I don't even want to get into the bowing crazyness...

Learning an instrument is always difficult at the beginning, but if you really like music, and it is your desire to learn it, That Is All you need. There's some instruments that required more discipline than others, and one of them is violin. Just put in your mind that every time you're learning a new instrument, it is like learning Another Language with another technique, another history, another philosophy. I love my piano with passion, and I could play anything I want but: I've been playing it since I was 2 years old on my sister's lap. Then I learned several other instruments but, when learning Violin, it reminded me about my piano: Great discipline, and determination to learn it. And, if you do that, I Know you Will Succeed. My very best to you!

When you start out, you easily get fustrated and want to quit because the fingering is difficult and the bowing is hard to get straight. But then, when you overcome that stage, you suddenly LOVE the violin! It becomes very fun and enjoyable. You should take up violin; you won't regret it. If you start, NEVER GIVE UP!

I played it for 3 years. It takes lots of practice and you should get lessons. Once you get practice, it sounds pretty good. It's very fun too. I got the first chair for concerts in school.
I quit after 3 years because I was entering middle school and I simply lost 85% interest in it.

It's different for everyone since each person has their own level of natural music ability. But definitely give it a shot!! Just make sure you take advice that your teacher gives you and make sure to practice!!! Usually everything is hard at first-- it just takes time to get used to it!

i guess it's hard 'cause it was the only instrument you had to start in the 4th grade or you couldn't play it.
