in the event that they could have nominated him for something it is going to have been Shutter Island. he's not a undesirable actor. each and each actor that replace into in a action picture final 365 days and is not between the 5 desirable actor nominees isn't a undesirable actor because of the fact of it. he's a superb actor, if the Academy continuously have been given it superb he would have 2 Oscars under his belt. The Aviator and what's eating Gilbert Grape.

Leo admits that filming "Titanic" was both good and bad. It was a film that many tweens went nuts over. But he didn't want that kind of immature audience and fought hard to prove that he is a mature actor. " Catch Me if You Can" really helped his career. He is now reconized as a very talented young man.... will he win tonight? No, he hasn't earned it. He is no DeNiro ( Taxi Driver) . But he is definitely on his way. Look for him in more blockbuster movies.

I THINK: that it doesn't matter if he is a good actor or a bad actor.
It really doesn't matter what a lot of people are saying. A lot of people are ignorant and opinionated. Why should they decide what others should like?
What does matter is that you have the courage to make up your own mind whether YOU like him or not.
One of these days, I'll get around to watching Titanic and then I will decide if I like him or not.

I thought he stunk on ice in Titanic, but saw him in The Departed and was amazed at what a good actor he has become. I truly hope that he will continue to develop his acting chops and have a continued successful career.

He's been good in the majority of the movies he's played in. I just saw him in The Departed and he really stepped outside the box on that one. I'm sure the role was totally out of character for him. He's a GREAT actor to me.

I think it depends on the role. He is not very masculine, so he can't pull off manly roles in crime dramas. It's easy to see him as a young boy on a ship (Titanic), but not as a gang leader (Gangs of New York) or as a cop or villian.
Personally, I prefer Matt Damon as an actor.

He stunk in Gangs of New York...He was OK in the one about Howard Hughes. He isn't a great actor -- he gets by more on his looks than acting talent...yes got better as he matured.
