I was watching this video on youtube of bruce lee giving an interview and his "be like the water my friend' statement really struck a cord with me and I was wondering what were some other good philosophy books or just regular books like that.

If I were you i would look for some kind of book with various essays on chinese philosophy. One aimed at beginners. It's pretty different from Western philo. They like dealing in paradoxes and very mystical concepts. Gods aren't so important as much as "order" or the universe itself.

Actually i read a good one called "Zen in the Martial Arts" by Joe Hyams. It had maybe 10 essays about different ideas from different masters. Good to start with.

Here's some other good philo quotes by Bruce:

'zen & the art of archery' is a good, short, easy to read introduction to Zen buddhism. i'm pretty sure the author's last name is Heregel.

anything by Alan Watts is great. he is extremely good at translating eastern philosophy into western terms (and often vice versa). a book of his on taoism= 'Tao: The Watercourse Way.' definitive work on zen= 'The Way of Zen.' or on eastern philosophy in general check out= 'The Book.'

if you want something straight from the eastern philosopher's mouth, the 'Tao Te Ching' is pretty good, but I preferred 'Collected Works of Chuang-Tzu.' anything by D.T.Suzuki is great as well.

...or if you'd like to read a good work of fiction with a lot of Eastern thought thrown in, check out: 'Siddartha' (by H.Hesse), or 'Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' (by R.Pirsig).

good luck in your investigations...
