My wife is probably going to give birth soon (36 weeks) and she is having twin boys. Our son is only 2 years old. We want him to be ready for this. We have already bought him the twin baby dolls to explain to him whats going on.He likes to kiss him mom's belly and rub it. He is very well behaved and he understands that mommy is going to the hospital soon. What else can we do to involve him in the birth.....also, any name suggestions?

Whatever you do, don't give your kids similar sounding names, or use the same letter unless you use the same letter as your older son. He'll feel extremely left out. I'd go to the store and buy a gift from each baby to your son and when they come home, have them "give" it to him. That way he's gotten something special and new from his brothers. Also, make sure to give him one on one alone time away from his brothers. That way he still feels loved. Let him be as involved as he wants to be- don't force him or he will be resentful. Just make sure that when guests come over and ooh and aah over your new babies, either ask them to pay attention to your older son too, or make sure that you give him tons of attention when your guests are over. I'd also maybe have him get something tiny for his new brothers to bring to the hospital and have something tiny for him in return. He's two--he will be jealous. Just remember to be patient. I would also suggest putting a sound machine or small fan in his room right next to his bed so that when his new brothers are crying in the middle of the night, he can sleep through it. He may start acting like a baby again when his brothers come home, and that's perfectly natural. Just make sure to emphasize how special he is. Enjoy the new babies and your older son!

Well continue teaching him what you guys have been teaching him abt the babies, let him know that there will be two more babies in the house that mommy and daddy will be taking care of and that he can help out when mommy and daddy ask. Have him get involve in helping with the diaper changing, bottle feeding etc. when the babies are born.

He is a little too young to really understand what is going on. Have him make a present for the babies like hand prints or something to hang on their wall. Maybe get him a big brother shirt to wear. The real challenge is when you bring the babies home from the hospital. You are going to be so busy with the babies make sure that you make time for him because he will feel left out and may start acting up or resenting the babies. Good luck you are going to have your hands full.

It sounds like you are doing about everything you can already. I mean there is really nothing else to do to prepare him. I think for a two year old, he understands the best he will be able to. As of names,
1.)Jacob & Joshua
2.)Ethan & Evan
3.)Alexander & Benjamin
4.)Brandon & Bryan
5.)Jacob & Jordon
6.)Andrew & Nicholas
7.)Ethan & Nathan
8.)Austin & Justin
9.)Nathan & Nicholas
10.)Kyle & Ryan

Let your son go see babies so he will know how to act around them. If he is around them he will be use to it and will understand. I hope I helped.
