Even when you are not downloading or synching anything, can it cause your iPod any damage?

If anything it'll damage the data but not the ipod itself. There is only risk if you're still transferring data, otherwise, no it won't do any harm

make positive all the appropriate lights are lit up at the front of the modem, .....Unplug all the wires to the modem and unplug the means, close down the computer for about 2 minutes then plug interior the means to the modem and plug in all wires settle for the cable, turn computer on and enable all of it load then plug interior the Cable connection to the modem. ought to artwork after some seconds

not really no it cant damage the ipod but just incase it dors freeze all u gotta do is press the centre button and menu at the same time and hold it for bout 30 secs till the apple icon appears on the ipod screen... and ur good to go !

i risked it with my sony bean it didnt mess it up at all

yeah it can, it froze my ipod, it wudnt respond.
