How can I make my computer stop making this clicking noise.?

I had this problem before and it was a program trying to run but I can remember how I fixed it. Some how I was able to delete it. Every minute or so I hear a clicking noise in the background like something is trying to run. Its not in the speakers. I remember it was a simple problem to fix. Help!!! Oh yea I'm running windows XP.

Go to Sounds in the control panel and remove the sound set for the Explorer Start Navigation item.
