Obviously vampires don't need 3 square meals a day like humans do, otherwise they'd suck the entire neighboring village dry in a few months (if not sooner). How much blood would a vampire have to drink to sustain itself? Would drinking an entire human last it a week? Would a cow sustain it for two?

Let's keep the Dracula/Nosferatu mythology in mind. Pardon me for sounding closed-minded, but I'm naturally inclined to think that anyone claiming to be a vampire is just confused. :P

depends on whose mythologicial base you are working with. Some require very small amounts, some require huge amounts, some never get full, some are always hungry, some use synthetic replacements, etc.

Also, depending on the base, some vampires do not need to drain (kill) their victims, thus they can feed from the same one several or many times.

[edit] dracula and nosferatu have two different mythologies.

OK, so you're referring to mythological bloody-suckers. I would think it would depend on the vampire's activities following their feed, or immediately preceeding it's feed. If the vampire was very active one would assume it would need more to sustain itself, yes?
The ancient vampirical myths refer very much to a sustainance based feeding pattern, so it would be like a human eating, although as you point out, not 3 square meals a day.
Another thing to note is that in mystical traditions vampires are not necessarily blood-suckers, but any being that draws it's energy/sustainance from others without their permission. I've come across a number of people who by that definition are vampires. This is sometimes suggested as an explanation for the blood-sucking concept, in that blood represents the life-force of a human, and any being drawing it's energy from another's life-force is kind of sucking it's blood...

That depends on the individual. I have known a few over the years. Some had to feed at least once a day. others could go fro a month at a time between feedings. Normally, only a few ounces are all that is necessary although there are rare occasins that more is needed. Oddly enough you don't find gluttany among vampires, at least not blood drinkers.

They dont need to feed every day like humans. they do not have three courses of food. they feed when they get thirsty and that comes at different times- it would depend on how much blood they had for their last meal.
