I love confined spaces in the winter when its cold, say a nice small snug room, or my bed. (hibernating instinct I wonder)
But in the day time during the summer the sky I can see the better even at night, laying under the stars is fantastic!

When I was 19 I visited Bold Colliery and walked/stooped right to the coal face. You could here sharp cracking noises every few seconds. I asked what it was. The answer came back it is the rock fracturing under the immense pressure. There were about 60 hydraulic rams keeping the roof up. I asked how much each one could withstand-90 tons each was the reply. I did a quick rough calculation and wondered how they managed to stop us being crushed as there were millions of tons above us-about 1 mile deep at least.I couldn't do that today and not just because it has closed. The older one gets the more aware of mortality we become. I went scuba diving 2 years ago in Greece and as it was my first dive I was only allowed to go to a depth of 15 feet. I was ok at first until I started thinking how loose my face mask was each time I exhaled. It wobbled slightly each time. Quite unnerving but very enjoyable. We fed the gloriously coloured fish sea urchins. So overall-no I don't like confined spaces any more.

I am ok as long as the space isn't totally small. Like for instance in the Navy they have these tiny bunks they sleep on and share with another soldier. I totally would freak, I couldn't share such a small space. But I love going camping and spending time in my tent, it doesn't make me feel confined because I know that right outside is the open doors and miles of woods. Last month I had to get an MRI which if you don't know they lay you down and run you in to a machine that takes your xray. It's confining and I freaked a little and the had to let me out of a few minutes. I had never had one before so I didn't know what to expect. So I guess I do have aproblem with small spaces. Like bathrooms in planes, they are so small how are these people having sex in them???? lol

I think it depends on what the confined space is. I don't mind travelling in a small aircraft - which some would perceive as a confined space. I also imagine I'd be okay in a spacecraft - which would be even more confined.
However, I discovered I feel uncomfortable being in a confined space underground i.e. a small mine very deep down, or a cave. I could never imagine doing caving where you have to wriggle through a human-width cave many meters underground.

Hmmm. Me thinks a sign of advancing years that comfort is a requirement for you, when in the back of your car at night.
Me also.

I would be alright in a tent or back of a car.
I am certainly not alright in a lift or anything small with no windows.
