You need to get the lock cylinder replaced. Ford makes an updated cylinder for this problem.

You need a new lock cylinder they have a revised one as grease junkie said. This is a common problem on the focus.

Do you have a lot of keys and keychains? Weight swinging against the wafers in the tumblers is what causes this type of failure most of the time.

as grease monkey said, common issue with Ford focus.. they actually changed to a different tumbler design because of it...

to get it to the dealer, try tapping on the back of the key with say the back of a butter knife while turning the key.. sometimes that frees them up just enough to get it to the dealer.. but what ever you do, don't shut off the car.. as sometimes the trick doesn't work a second time...

I work at Enterprise Rent A Car and yes we have had that same problem. I think it will work if you keep turning it! We had to take these to the dealership a lot!
