suzie,

I think that it is clear that he did not. You may remember that his father, King George V, was quite unhappy with his rather sensual lifestyle, having a series of affairs with married women--mostly American, by the way--during his life as Prince of Wales. If he'd had peyronies, it would have become known then.

Peyronies is much more common among diabetics and sufferers of gout and atherosclerosis, and occasionally because of mechanical trauma (injury) than among the rest of the population. However, it's fairly rare even among these people, and I do not think that HRH had any of those.

I have never seen the "Edward VIII and Peyronies" connection. I know that the Duke of Windsor died of throat cancer, but I've never heard of him having Peyronies.

'Course, that may be royal reticence and journalistic respect, too, but come, you know Americans. We can't keep a secret like that.

I lived in Britain for two years, and every time I heard Wallis Simpson referred to, it was either as "Mrs. Simpson," or more often, "That Simpson woman." Whew. Those are some long memories.

We didn't SEND her over there or anything, honest.

PS: Kitty Kelly is not the most respected author in America, being known as something of a sensationalist. II'd be careful about her writing.
