The easiest way is to open up any newspaper and comment on your beliefs.
Example: NJ allows civil unions for same-sex. State that you believe that this was a great thing.
Look if you make your self open your friend will tell you in his own time.

If he is seeing you as more than a friend, chances are that he is a crossdresser or transvestite. Chances are good that he is not homosexual, but rather heterosexual with a desire at times to dress as a female. Some CD's may dress only in undergarments, while others may go for the whole thing (heels, wigs, breast forms, makeup, etc.) Either way, chances are better that a CD is hetero rather than homosexual.
The hardest thing for a CD to do is reveal his interest in dressing, because of exactly the kind of responses this section sometimes generates from intolerant people who don't want to understand differences and feel more comfortable lumping people into generalized categories of Them and Us.
If you want some help, try asking him to help you pick out an outfit from a cateloge, or ask what he thinks about certain things. Show him that you value his opinion and you might find him giving you insights to him even as he gives them to you.
Another resource is www.crossdressers.com, for both you and him. There is a section for SO's and one for MTF. Best wishes!

You think he may be a transvestite or a homosexual. These two things are so different, it is obvious that you are just looking for an excuse to interfere in someone else's life. Back off, he will come to you if he needs your assistance.

okay, first don't say that you think he is that way. if he was raised in such a situtation, he definatly does not want to hear you call him gay, etc. however do imply subtly that you think he may be "different." you know. just joke around.
when doing that. say something like "i know i know. i am totally just joking. but on that subject, even if you were, i'd always be there for you. you know that right?" and then move on.
if his family members and/or he hate or feel strongly against gays, etc then he wont want to deal with it directly at first and he wont come out right away to you. take your time. coax him to let up a bit. and always let him know that you care for him no matter what.

Don't ask him about his sexuality. Instead, let him know during a conversation that you support gay rights and transgendered people. Try to do it in a light fashion - if he wants to talk about it, he'll know its ok to talk w/you. He's lucky to have you as a friend.
