The nearest star beyond the sun is Alpha Centauri which is 4.2 x 10^16 meters away. If we were to recieve a radio message from this star today how long ago would it have been send?

Alpha Centauri is between four and four and a half light years away. If we were to receive a message from this star, it would have been sent between four and four and a half years ago.
