It is a check from the government to cover expenses without someone doing work to earn it. It is the same as the government taking money from people who earn it and give it away to someone who does not.

it is an enabler to people that are too lazy to work

michigan is one of few states without a limit for how long a person can be on welfare and has among the highest unemployment rates.

some disabled people need it and deserve it but the system is all messed up and gives money to lazy people

there is a difference between unemployment insurance and welfare... people who have worked and lose their job get unemployment compensation for a limited amount of time because their employer pays unemployment insurance... welfare is different and essentially redistribution of wealth... when you receive unemployment compensation you are required to prove you are actively seeking employment or the benefit is lost... people who lose their jobs because they are fired for due cause are not entitled to it...

many ways to explain this, here is one.
the government takes (steals) money from hardworking middle class people, and gives it to the people (I have other names for those, but I want this one to stay) that abuse the system. they then spent it on everything, but necessary stuff.
