Color blue, carbon dioxide of mans breath (keeping mouth open and not shut for along time will help so shut it !), bananas on the breath, swampy water being around be where they breed their larvae with ease to wriggle and breathe.

Seems mosquito's are attracted by the external exuded by skin form of of cholesterol since they are more efficient at processing cholesterol, the byproducts of which remain on the skin's surface.

So thereby applying lotions that have animal cholesterols or urea can greatly more-so attract them ! Certain acids, such as uric acid (urine) also they come to (and know as must know as familiar.)

Low surrounding shrubs give them a platform landing plan since they zig zag as their usual technique to getting near a target.

Mosquitoes need air to breathe the same as a human and by pouring some vegetable oil you can get rid of mosquito's larvae by oil slicking their breeding pools ! If this be at a backyard area and notice them and pressed for time. Add some vegetable or soy oil to this water and they will suffocate ! You don't need harsh chemicals only a veggie oil and thats a fact !

The females of blood sucking species locate their victims primarily through scent. They are extremely sensitive to the carbon dioxide in exhaled breath and exuded through the pores, as well as several substances found in sweat. Some people seem to attract mosquitoes more than others. Empirical studies of mosquito bites suggest that the risk of being bitten follows an approximately negative binomial distribution. Being male, being overweight, and having type 'O' blood may increase the risk of being bitten. Mosquitoes can detect heat, so they can find warm-blooded mammals and birds very easily once they get close enough.

It's the blood in your body that attracts mosquitos...but mosquitos have special tastes; They prefer:

Blondes to Brunettes
and
children to adults

they will still go for adults and brunettes but they much prefer the above.

carbon dioxide is the one that concerns us. i remember an entomologist once joking that zappers only kill the stupid ones. if you ever get a chance, observe the mosquito concentrations around a person just completing a workout compared to your lazy ***. after sitting in one spot for a while, the person having just worked out will have a far greater concentration hovering around.
