I do this a lot because the glare is harder on my eyes than the sun. Also, I had lasik surgery in September and it seems to be even worse now. If I don't wear my sunglasses I find myself squinting my eyes so that my face feels tense and I get more headaches.

They like the way they look in dark glasses. The same reason we wear most things.

Could be that it has become a habit, or maybe they wear them as part of their "accessories". Or maybe they have sensitive eyes and even when the sun isn't shining their eyes get irritated.

most of them think they look cool. But there are some like my husband who has major light problems. and has to wear dark glasses. Sometimes he forgets to change them at night time to. He does notice it then but it is usually to late because he left them home. His eyes are light sensative from a burn from battery acid. caused when working on a car.

Because they think they look cool, even though they look like idiots, or they are attempting to hide the stupidity in their eyes when you try to have a somewhat intelligent conversation with them, or they wear them so they can stare at people without appearing to be a creeper.

but it might be that they have sensitive eyes and the sun bothers them even if the sun shines a little

Perhaps they're blind or want to hide their face like a couple others said, or perhaps they just want to look cool. I also have a cousin who is color blind, and he has glasses that are tinted.

my brother went through the same fase he did it to look cool and he said he could also see better in them some people are just different

Either they have light sensitivity, or they want to look cool, or they don't want to be recognized. Other than that, who knows?
