1970's...when the hippies grew up and started having children. It has been ALL DOWN HILL every since.
Now, hippies are in power and really screwing up this country. I don't mean the elected ones, I mean the BUREAUCRATS (the other side of Wilson's Dichotomy.)

The 2000's definitely. The world will never be the same after 9/11 and our country has gone to hell in a handbasket as far as immigration goes. Just think of all the bad things that have happened since the year 2000. At least things were a little more simple in the '60's, '70's, '80's, and '90's. Despite all the problems in those decades, at least we got through them and most of them were resolved.

1970s...
It started with the nation divided over the Vietnam war. Riots in the streets and at the colleges. National Guard troops firing at students at Kent State.
The Watergate scandal ending with the Nixon resigning and Ford becoming president, the first time a man became president who was not elected to the office of president or vice president.
The introduction of pollution control on cars around 1973 that shot both horse power and gas mileage to hell while at the same time we had the first oil crisis.
The end of the Vietnam war and the draw down of the military, hurting military morale greatly. The election of Jimmy Carter in 1976, the worst president we had in the 20th century. He cuts our support of the Shah of Iran and in 1979 the shah is over thrown and Iran becomes a rabid anti-American nation and takes hostages. The USSR seeing the USA lose control, invades Afghanistan the same year and the next year, Iraq attacks Iran and they have an 8 year war. Two top secret military projects are compromised by the Carter campaign to counter attacks by Reagan that Carter is weak on the military, the secret of stealth technology and the development of the B2 stealth bomber. This leak of national defense secrets came BEFORE either the F117 or the B2 were operational. (enough about Carter, I could go on and on about that rabbit fighting jerk.)
The 1970s also saw an inflation rate that was close to 20%, with home interest rates and credit card rates so high, they had to remove the limits on credit, something we still suffer with today. The inflation rate was so high, they had to raise the cost of living every year for FOUR years (guess who was president.)... and gold went over $800 an ounce, silver over $40 before the bubble burst causing billions in debts for those who bought on margin.
Everything since the 1970s has been a piece of cake...

Well, the 1960's had Vietnam, civil rights protests, the Cuban Missile Crisis, limited consumer electronics, less medical advances, no color TV, The Beatles, Hippies, presidential assassination, Marilyn Monroe's death, extensive Cold War defense spending and the Chevrolet Corvair.
I would say that the 1960's were the worst decade.

1950's was the worst decade. From that time on it is getting better and better (despite some ugly things, like the surge of conservatism under Bush, etc.)

This one! The 2000's. Since the start of the millenium, we have (in America at least) had a dumbing of the population, a reduction in freedom, and a loosening of morality that combine to cast a dark future for the human race.
