Authors, playwrights, scriptwriters, movie makers, the recording industry, the video industry, the news media, both print and tv and now internet.

Why? Because in most cases or they used to deal with issues that may not get dealt with in every day life and that expand on the whole picture of life , not just little snippets.

An example the movie the Best Years of Lives, came out after ww2 and talked about soldiers returning from war who were psychologically wounded or physically wounded and what they went through to adapt to society.

Then there was Gentlemen's Agreement which discussed the discrimination against Jews in the late 40s and 50s in the us.

To Kill a Mockingbird, Guess who's coming to dinner( the original one) , In the Heat of the Night dealt with how society treated blacks and attitudes towards racial issues.

It's very rare that movies today address those kinds of issues because most are written by young kids, who really haven't had much experience and are still into sophmoric immature potty behaviour and humour, rather than talking about big important issues that ultimately change a society.

We as a people do. Doesn't mean rely on the government and politics all the time. We can't wait for the president, the major, or anyone in that category to come fix what's broken in our own neighborhoods, and surroundings. If we really want a voice, and if we really want to make a difference, we should make positive moves on our own. We have the freedom and the right to.

We do, we just don't do it that often. We let others do it for us.
