In the film the Godfather, the mafia has sided with the militatary dictatorship in Cuba and are ready to take over the country and set up casinos and make gambling legal. The soldiers have captured a rebel who is marched toward jail but before anyone knows he detonates a bomb strapped to his body killing himself and several soldiers. Micheal Coleone is in a car and see this happen and says to the man next to him, "are the soldiers paid to fight" the man says "yes", "are the rebels", the man replies "no". Micheal then says "it's time to leave". There are many people on here who say "we should be doing this" or "we should be doing that" in Iraq but i believe the Muslims will fight and die for their cause and not for money but the neo-nazis on here wouldn't volunteer for anything, especially now that the Army needs them. Your thoughts.

Easy with those accusations tiger. I'm a British Infantry veteran and I fought in Afghanistan - not Iraq I admit.

The sort of person espousing the ignorant war related rants onthis website are usually racist, ignorant, or just simply imbecilic and would be unlikely to be accepted by any credible military. As to why they don't volunteer - its a simple fact of life that those who crow the loudest generally achieve the least.

As an ex-service man who spent six years in the British army I am in full agreement with you. You are right, the Muslims will never stop fighting while foreigners are on their soil. there are so many examples to support this statement, namely N. Ireland, Vietnam, Cyprus and many many more, in the end the invaders had to withdraw and then peace reigned once again in those countries. Western governments should look at the past before blundering head first into a war they cant win.
I wonder if the UK was invaded by a foreign country, would we sit back and conform to everthing we were told, not on your nelly!!

For a long time professional soldiers throughout Europe fell to Napoleon's Army because his soldiers believed they were fighting to set men free, while the professional soldiers were not filled with that kind of passion. To most Iraqis we are occupiers and oppressors pursuing a crass agenda. They are fighting for their lives and their freedom from Bush and his puppet government that he has installed in Iraq. Iraq is their country and their home, the same cannot be said for our military. As good as they are, they are fighting the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place.

Let's examine the reason "Muslims will fight and die for their cause and not for money". First of all it is not all Muslims who are blowing themselves up and killing innocents along with soldiers. It is the fanatics who have been mislead by radical clerics and men filled with hate and disgust for any religion other than Islam. Their "war" is not about anything other than the total domination of the world by Islam. As far as the Neo-Nazi comment goes, Hitler had a Grand Mufti, his name was Hajj Amin al-Husseini. He was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and resided in Berlin during the Holocaust. At Auschwitz, al-Husseini reportedly admonished the guards running the gas chambers to "work more diligently." I think you will find the Islamo-fascists just a tad more Nazi-like than the "neo-nazis on here" who " wouldn't volunteer for anything".

Curious but interesting use of an analogy. Perhaps I missed the exact point of your statement as there was no direct question. Albeit...no one ever said the Islamic/Muslim/ insurgents are or were ever concerned with money. They have their motivations based in such things as religion, anti-USA beliefs, anti-democracy, pro-Saddam or Ba'ath support or just plain radicalism.

As for neo-nazi views....what does that have to do with Iraq? Are you implying that supporters of the war are neo-nazis?

Let us not forget about the passion of our service men and women to do the best possible job/duty while in Iraq.

I agree. This is why I think this war is unwinnable. These people are fighting for something we can't even begin to understand and they aren't doing it because they get paid to do it. The believe we are the true enemy and will do anything to get rid of us. I believe in our soldiers and will forage on if they are told to do so. But, in the end those with the most passion are going to win. Look at the American Revolution. I don't know why the powers that be can't understand that.

Money talks. It doesn't always say the right things but I'd rather use money than a stick of dynamite attached to my religious beliefs.

It can only be hoped that that decisions by countries are made for better reasons than the mafia might apply to theirs. Forlorn?
