I'm from australia so we dont really have distinct groups of people, we're all just friends.

Do you really have divided groups in schools in america. Like jocks and cheerleaders and goths etc?

Are the cheerleaders and jocks really as mean as in the movies?

Sadly enough, it can be like that here in America. We feel some need to make ourselves distinct by dividing ourselves into groups. And, yes, cheerleaders and jocks can be mean as they are in the movies... sad, isn't it?

Yes, the groups in school are somewhat divided. I mean, in some ways the groups are similar to the movies, such as you won't see the football jocks hanging out with the nerdy brainiacs who are the teacher's best student. However, I'm a cheerleader and somewhat popular and I'm not mean. I can be rude if someone is just being a jerk, but me and my girls aren't like the ones in the movies. Don't get me wrong, some girls in school can be just plain mean and slutty about anything and everything, but they are just a small handful like that. And unlike the movies, the cheerleaders aren't constantly getting at the people they don't like. We leave them alone! Why start beef with someone you don't like? That would be wasting your time! <3

its kinda like that....or at least in the state that i live in it is

its not really jocks, cheerleaders, and goths though. at the school i go 2 there's the popular kids, the kids who think they are popular (but every1 hates them), the kids who get along with almost any1, and the really rude kids who everybody hates. and unlike in the movies it doesn't really matter who your seen talking 2 but if you are caught hanging out with somebody outside of your group of friends then people might start 2 think that you are becoming their friend 2. the popular kids (jocks and cheerleaders) aren't even half as bad as they are in the movies.

There were those cliques when I was in school (I'm 42 now). Jocks, cheerleaders/pep squad, ROTC, the kids who smoked and used drugs, the brainy kids, etc.

I wouldn't imagine it's changed now...just maybe different groups...we didn't have "goths" back then, or at least they weren't called that.

not really in my school when I grew up. you get the usual teasing stuff some between kids who don't like each other. Mostly people just leave other people alone.
