How could I possibly be a lesbian if...
1. I have never been abused by my mother or father, or ANYONE else.
2. I didn't even know about homosexuality til I was 12 years old. Therefore I was not exposed to it. Not of my relatives are gay.
3. I am a Christian who believes in God and Jesus. Therefore, I am not disillusioned by Satan or living in sin.

This is basically asked toward those who hate gay people or who claim these are the reasons for their homosexuality,

because I know the real reasons. The above has nothing to do with it. I just want to know what they think.

I realize i could have written my question in a way that was more understandable. I never proofread =P

I don't truly know the answer to whether it is genetic or not, but a person can be born with certain characteristics that are not given to them by genes. there are more factors!

There are a lot of other aspects you haven't even touched on. You could be a confused teen trying to rebel. You could be attracted to an ideal that you wish to be like. You could be, even as a professing Christian in some cases, plagued by generational demons. There are so many possibilities...

To me, and I may be wrong, but homosexuality is something that you either are or arent. It doesnt have anything to do with God, or Jesus or religion or abuse by a parent etc.
i am a guy and not once during my life have I ever said to myself..."wow, that guy is kinda cute".
Yet, there are other men out there that think this over once in a while and wonder..."gee, I wonder if I should say hi to him". If this is the case, then this person is GAY.
I have went a months without a date before, and not once did I think, hmmm, maybe I will ask John out to the movies tonight...

Personally, I think one's sexual orientation is usually, if not always, pre-wired into the individual genetically.

"Religiously conservative information sources generally reject the belief that homosexuality is caused or set up by genes. Information sources sponsored by gays, lesbians, religious liberals, mental health professionals and human sexuality researchers generally stress the genetic cause of sexual orientation.
We have described a number of studies which show that the propensity towards homosexuality is determined either:

By genetic causes at conception, or
By to environmental causes in the womb before birth.

We are always watching for new studies into this phenomenon. We have found none that contradict the above conclusion.

A number of studies on identical twins have indicated that perhaps 10% of people are born with the genetic predisposition to develop a homosexual orientation in adulthood. However, this predisposition may or may not be triggered, either before birth or during early childhood by a factor in the environment which is currently unknown. Thus, having a homosexual orientation is not completely determined by one's genes. However, current evidence is that it is certainly outside of a person's conscious control."

Sweetheart, honestly, if you know Jesus as your Savior, why bother wasting your energy on homophobes? Who cares what they think of us? There will always be evil people in the world who persecute minorities and they will never go away until the day the Lord returns and obliterates them. So for now, in the mean time, trust your Father in heaven, live the life you know He wants you to live, love and forgive everyone with all of your heart as Jesus did, and let all of the garbage of the enemy roll right off your back.

Oh MY!!

The "popping sound" you just heard was the balloons of a million christo-nazi's "balloons" being burst by YOU!

Good for you dearest!

I have always asked this question myself...as I too have NEVER been abused by anyone, and I didn't even know what a homosexual was until I was about 18 years old. The "christian" part...that ain't me. BUT, I know where you are coming from.

exactly! and yet, do the haters ever listen? no! they still back up their irrational hatred with the same lies, assumptions and generalizing stereotypes the bigots have been repeating for years!
I was never abused/molested or raped
I didn't know ANYONE who was gay or lesbian until years after I realized I was (at 18). I was never "exposed" to it, either. I know of no one else in my family who is gay.
I am also a Christian who believes in God...and was raised being taught He created and loves us all. AND that Christianity is about love and acceptance.
I do NOT hate men, nor have I ever been "hurt" by a man. I have lots of male friends. I have always been attracted to women, not men. I am a "gold star" lesbian (you L Word fans will get that!)...I have only ever been with women.

People who hate for no good reason, choose not to educate themselves with facts and never even bother to get to know any of us will never understand and shall remain living in ignorance!

listen here LITTLE girl, it is genetic and you DON'T have to:
have been abused by your parents,
know anything about it to begin with and none of the relatives that you KNOW of are gay,
not believe in God, you can

Still be a christian and be gay, do some research an get over it.

oh and stop being so demanding, as it makes you sound like a spoiled brat!

Nothing you have stated is in any way related to a person being gay or lesbian. You are either born with a tendency to be gay or your not. Now, I'm not a doctor but that's always been the way I understood it. (of course, I'm straight.......so what the hell do I know)

Love, your story could have been written by myself with the exception that I was not aware of attraction to a female till I was 18+. Be true to yourself and if a religion rejects you. do as Gwenneth and I did. Worship in the open air amid God's glories.
