Run away from the net, straight toward the ball. As the ball is falling, get so close to it that it will fall almost between your knees, while getting your racquet ready out in front of you (I use a continental grip). When the ball falls to knee level, bend your knees a bit and start to swing at it, contacting the ball at about shin level. This will generate a low, flat shot that should barely clear the net.

Don't follow through much unless you're done having kids .

don't try to face the court. run to the ball like you're going to try to run into it with your chest. spread your legs a bit, then comes the important part...hop past the ball and bend your knees a bit so it's like you just pooped out the ball. if the ball is not between you and the net, you will definately whack yourself. also, you start swinging with the racket edge first, then pronate the strings toward the net as the last second, like a serve. and try to stop at contact. no explaination required.

I cant explain it. It just comes instinctively. I've only made the shot when I was not thinking about it.
It aslo helps if you have long legs.

Have kids, then try the shot.

listen to david. it took me a while to get it, (w/ many whacks in painful places...) cuz it feels awkward until you get used to it.
