It's most likely a problem with grease in the intermediate steering shaft. You would have to get it inspected to be sure, but it sounds like this is the problem. It won't hurt anything, it's just annoying. Most times you just have to remove it and grease it with some special lube and it will be fine. Good luck.

Otherwise you could have a broken link where you get a loud pop and a simple repair is done. Bring your Hubby or a Guy relative or Guy friend with who has some knowledge of cars.

C/V Joint not sure look under the car or have somone you can trust to look at the joints and the rubber boots for any splits or grease ring in the wheel well.

nicely on my vehicle it extremely is a 1985 Toyota Corolla RWD, it by no potential made a valid what so ever. in fact the only way absolutely everyone knew it grow to be undesirable grow to be whilst it grow to be jacked up after which you had to jiggle the tire, then you might experience it loose. the different wheel noises have been led to by particular aspects hitting the brakes(which I fastened), potential steerage R&P, and probably a tie rod(which I replaced). i'm particular it could make a valid nonetheless if the bearing wasn't packed top which might reason the bearings to burn, yet my vehicle's wheel bearings the place consistently packed top so as that could clarify why it by no potential made a valid even whilst they have been undesirable.
