There are peaceful places.
However, when cultures collide, land disputes arise, and political decisions conflict, war is inevitable.
Learning to share the land is difficult with the weaponry available.
When humans can lay down all weapons and work toward a common goal, then peace will be possible, but not probable.

A Utopian cultures only path is towards stagnation and oblivion. Necessity is the mother of evolution. By being who we are, a virulent, greedy, despicable race interested only in our own individual advancement, we insure the continuation of our species as a whole. We are merely doing what all life is programmed to do, survive. And it is as it has been and will always be. Survival of the fittest. On the bright side, physical strength is on the decline as a predictor of survivability and mental acuity is on the rise as the most desirable trait. If time is remaining on the clock at the end of the race, we as a species may just come out on top.

Because of the nature of human beings to want what they want when they want it, I don't think that there will ever be lasting peace on earth.

Nope, don't think it's possible.

If all the humans died, the animals would fight. If all the animals died, the plants would fight. If all the plants died, the shifting plates would still cause earthquakes and there'd still be all kinds of non-peaceful weather.

But if you were only referring to humans, I don't think so. As long as there is anything in limited supply, and people have the freewill to make decisions and disagree with one another, there will be conflicts, fights and wars.

All we can do is work hard to leave the world a little better than we found it.

Yes! Heaven on earth. We have all of the building blocks, we just have to learn how to use them.

Sometimes the most difficult problems have the simplest solutions. There is no doubt that this century will bring great quantum leaps, in terms of understanding how to raise life to its full dignity.

There was peace on earth for about 90% of its 4,500 million year history, during which bacteria created the oxygen-rich atmosphere upon which we all now depend.

But perhaps even that was an act of violence, albeit a slow one.

I suppose violence is change, therefore no, there will never be peace on earth.

well no there will never be peace on earth because it is human nature to fight and unfortunately humans will continue to fight over whatever they want.
