Youtube video help?

I keep on trying to upload movies to youtube but they always fail.I made them also.What file does the video have to be.Mine are windows media file.If this is not the file,please tell me how to change it.

YouTube officially accepts uploaded videos in QuickTime, AVI, and MPEG formats.
