I just started giving my 4 month old cereal... How often do I give it to him? Once a day, everytime he eats? Do i need to give him more the more he eats it? He loves it!! He ate it real well when I gave it to him. I just dont want to give him too much. Since I started it, he's been constapated also. How do I fix that?

Id start with a tablespoon or two once a day untill he seems he can handle more..no constipation etc. Give him a bit of prune juice to fix the constipation....but why did you start giving him cereal? unless the dr said so, Id wait another 2 months.

Water it down a bit more to loose up his stools, make sure its a near liquid form. He only really needs it once or twice a day... he's still geting all the nutrients he needs from his formula or breast milk so techinically, he dosn't even need to be on cereal yt. Anoher idea to help with the constipation is to buy stage one baby jar food (not bananas), maybe prunes, and mixa bit in. Babies mostly like the taste of prunes (I have no idea why!) Good Luck, Hope this helps

You can also mix a little fruit with the cereal. You can also give him some veggies. I used to give my son cereal for breakfast and veggies and fruits for lunch & dinner. If you can get him to eat prunes that will help or diluted prune juice. Or you can put a little kayro syrup in his milk.

What kind of cereal is it,get rice not oatmeal cereal, that does make babies constipated.Try to find a cereal that does not make him constipated. If all of the cereals do you may wanna talk to your doctor, but definitely don't give him a lot of stuff that makes him like that.

He is still a little baby and doesn't really need it till about 6 months. But if you are feeding him all he needs is a little bit in the morning. That's how I started my girls. After their first or second feed of the morning.
But remember he is getting all his nutrients from breast or formula right now and food isn't really necessary. That is why he is constipated.
