i would say that during the Renaissance, there was a return to ancient philosophies, and also a reach towards emotions, and the human side, rather then just rational thought,,,,,,

during the 18th and 19th century,,,, the emphasis often was on combining these two,,,, the rational/logic side, with the humanistic side,,,,,
