I think people are freaking out over nothing. It's not encouraging kids to be promiscuous , anyone who actually gave it serious critical thought, should be able to understand this.
It is a preventative measure to stop cervical cancer and if you can get young preteens the shot why not.
Someone probably would have opposed the polio vaccine if it had been invented now with some cockamamie idea.
This is going to save lives people.
Frankly if it doesn't become law and some young woman down the line dies of cervical cancer because her parents opposed the shot, I hope I don't hear about class action lawsuits.
There's something about bible belt christians and their obsession with s.e.x. that virges on the weird and nonsensical. Health prevention forget it ,it involves s.e.x so it must be bad.

opposed because even though the law has the best of intentions, it is just another step toward the slippery slope of legislating personal freedoms into oblivion. Cervical cancer is,yes, a public health concern, but unlike other diseases such as polio, typhus, diphtheria and others that children are vaccinated against, it is not highly contagious and does not pose the problem of an epidemic. Women should indeed take care of their reproductive health but to make it a law....I just can't justify the expense and the potential yet perhaps yet unknown side effects to an unproven end.

I even have been waiting for a question like this. no longer ALL CERVICAL CANCERS ARE STD brought about. now that thats over each female could desire to get the vaccine in hassle-free terms for that certainty. There are categories of cervical cancers that the government doesent want you to renowned approximately. including adnocarcinoma a very slow transforming into cancer that's no longer std appropriate. basically positioned a nun could desire to get adnocarcinoma. wish this info facilitates. sturdy luck!

I'm not particularly in favor to making anything mandatory to tell the truth.. but not for the reasons one might think in this case.. World has too many people already as far as i'm concerned.. anything that will thin down the herd I'm in favor of.. So Nope it shouldnt be mandatory IMO
(or in other words .. the only good human is a dead hunam)

I'm in Texas where our Governor made it mandatory. I'm against it for 2 reasons: 1) Our governor bypassed the legislative processed to pass it as law - in essence became a dictator. 2) He received $6000 from the only producer of the vaccine, Merck, in his last campaign. This points to the idea that it's only mandatory because Merck bought him off.
Everytime it has been made mandatory it's because Merck has been campaigning and giving money to state's so they would make it so.

Having had cervical cancer, if there was a vaccine to prevent it i would definatly take it. to have a small jab in your arm and never have to worry about it would be great.
i havent heard about this out here (australia). although making it mandatory for every woman sounds scary to me also. it should still a personaly choice. Red wine is good for you but they dont make that mandatory do they!?!?!

I think they should only make things that are air born diseases mandatory for school children. This isn't an air born disease so it should be the parents choice to make sure the kids had the shot not the school board.
I have three girls and I will make sure they get the shot for their own good but anything that is of sexual nature is a perents responsiblity not a schools responsiblity.

against
it includes 2 types of HPV that dont cause lethal cancer while leaving out about 3 types that do. I would wait a bit for the full vaccine to come out.

They made it mandatory. Okay I guess. Whatever they feel the need to do. I just hope that it's completely safe. It just has come out hasn't it? I bet there will be something that goes wrong with it.
If what Z H says is true then I'm going with him on this.

It's too new. I don't think that there has been enough study and we don't know what the long term affects of it may be. I want to know what about the people that can't afford to get the shot? I'm supposed to get it and I don't want to.
