My company has a Xerox Phaser 6300 and 2 other color printers on our network. The color printers are far more expensive to print to than the regular black and white printers on the network. We have limited access to the color printer for reasons of cost rather than security.

There really isn't much, from a security standpoint, that you can do with a printer on a network.

If you can without hindering anything else. Leaving it open is a security loophole(it allows people to do a netbios scan to see if you have anything shared).
