Cus the thing that stirs up the mcflurry to make it creamy and smooth looks like a stick with things sticking out of the side. So then, its like a conveyor belt: the first person puts in the mix, the second puts in the topping and puts on the top, and then the third puts it in the machine that stirs it up!!!

I hope this helps!!! =)

ps-please pick my answer as best answer, cus it tells u wut u need to know, and its not just something copied of wikipedia.

When you're designing a consumer product, the ideal is to marry form and function. For example, if you're designing a chair that makes popcorn, it must be eye-catching, but also comfortable. You must ensure that the popcorn is dispensed somewhere in the armrest, as opposed to from the centre of the seat. And, above all, it must not kill hedgehogs.

Before I continue, don't get any big ideas: the "As It Happens" team already has a patent pending on its "Jiffy-Plop Poppin' Lounger".

Now, as I was saying: your design must not kill hedgehogs. So the McDonald's Corporation found itself in an awkward spot over the past few years, when one of its designs failed to observe this crucial rule. The murderous culprit was the fast-food restaurant's ice-cream treat called the McFlurry. It wasn't the ice cream that was the problem: it was the design of the container that held the ice cream.

Said container features three elements: on the bottom, a cup that holds soft-serve ice cream, blended with crushed cookies, candy, or for the health-conscious, wheat germ. On the top, a clear plastic lid. And inserted into a hole in that lid, a spoon. Aside from the possibility of clogged arteries, an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, incipient obesity, and a wicked ice-cream headache, what could go wrong?

Well, if you were a hedgehog, plenty -- and not because of lactose-intolerance. When littering Britons tossed aside their McFlurry cups, the hedgehogs would periodically come across them. Smelling leftover ice cream, they would stick their heads in. And that's when things became extremely unfunny. The aperture in the cup lid made it possible for a small hedgehog to get its head in -- but not out. If the hapless creature wasn't rescued, it would die of starvation. Inadvertently, the crack design team for the fast-food giant had created a very effective hedgehog trap.

Fortunately for British hedgehogs, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society was on the case. The B.H.P.S., as it's better known, began a campaign, lobbying McDonald's to change its lethal McFlurry cup. And today, after more than five years of lobbying, the B.H.P.S. declared victory: McDonald's has flipped its lid. The company announced that, after "significant research and testing", from now on the McFlurry will feature a new lid with a smaller hole in it -- too small for a hedgehog's head.

It's a tribute to the persuasive power -- and the tenacity -- of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. It's a triumph for spiny mammals. And we also offer a tip of the hat to McDonald's, and its crack team of designers, for doing what the hedgehog couldn't: backing out of a tight spot, with some dignity.

The spoon can't get through it right? And what about those spoons? Why do they have that weird gap in the handle.

Maybe it was surplus from another product they had and never switched it because it is cheaper.
