Well, it depends on the time of year. Earlier on in the season we are we are focusing more on conditioning and stretching, covering the basics of stunting, and of course learning chants and cheers for the games. The further we get into the year the more we focus on learning 8 counts from our competition routine, as well as the tumbling and jumps and stunts that go along with it.
Here is a sample of a practice from our elementary school team:
*100 jumping jacks, sprint 4 times around the gym
*Stretch each part of the body, and hold each position for at least 10 seconds, taking a deep breath on 4 and pressing down further on 5. (splits are held for at least 30.)
*Work on tumbling by doing handstand kicks and handstand rolldowns, bridge ups and bridge rocks, several dozen cartwheels and roundoffs (good and bad side), front and back handspring barrel drills.
*10 or 20 each of the jumps we are doing for competition
*motion drills to practice arm placement
*stunt training for about 20 minutes
*choreography for about 40 minutes, which works like this. "Show me your 8 counts for the first dance. *watch* Half of you aren't hitting that third move. Again. *watch* It's getting closer. Again. *watch* Better. Show me the 8s for the second dance. *watch* Not even close. Let's do that in half time, one move at a time. Ok you three have it, but you guys over here try it with me, and emphasize the hips. All right! I knew you had it in you. Let's put dances 1 and 2 together *watching* Ok. You've all forgotten what we talked about with the first dance. Do it again. *watch* MUCH better. This is going to be amazing when you finally get the wrinkles smoothed out. Great job guys!
Then we pick up the matting and clean up the practice space, get together for final words. The kids talk about what went well and what needs to be worked on, then we split until the next practice which usually is only a day or two away. And in the time they are on their own they are expected to practice their stretching, jumps, motions, and choreography.

The JV or Varsity cheerleaders at my college weren't allowed to gown like that. They gained states 6 circumstances in a row, and get exceptionally a lot something they want, yet they did no longer gown like that. i became on the dance group, and you wager i wanted to positioned on a activities bra to prepare. I by no skill did, by way of fact i might've gotten in hardship (we are residing in a conservative community). Leotards are warm, and that they make your decrease back all sweaty... A activities bra might've been superb. i might say that is completely superb. they only want to stay cool and be delicate. Or while you're no longer delicate with it, inspect Dick's donning products for some wonderful, yet installation tanktops. aim even has an exercising area now, and that they have got mind-blowing colored tops!

What do we really do?
We do tumble, we jumps like toe touches and herkies and a lot more. You might think we're stupid girls in skirts that say "Go team" but we do A LOT more. I would like to see all the people who say rude stuff about us cheerleaders try to throw someone up in the air and catch them with out dropping them or i would like to see them do tumbling, like back handspring, back tucks, aerials and stuff like that. Cheerleading is the most dangerous sport in the U.S. right now and cheerleading is also the only sport that uses all the muscles in your body.

HAHAHAHAHHAAHHHAHAHAHAHHA you people make me laugh. im a cheerleader and we stretch tumble stunt cheer dance and come up with routines for compeitions. every girl talks about people even if your like in band. just becouse were cheerleaders who have good bodies in short skirts doesnt mean were sluts. its the uniforms we get who wants to have thier cheerleaders in long skirts?? and no we dont talk about boys and sex. any girl can do that in her own time. go to a competition and you will really understand what we do at practice. id like to see all of you do a roundoff back handspring back tuck and go on top of girls hands and twist on your way down.. and id like to see you all jump so high and touch your toes. its not as easy as it looks.

Well, if you follow any boy's wet dream, they make out, and have a group orgy. But we're smart enough to know they just teach other how to be mean, and condescending; forming internal cliques that eventually collapse around them ending in lots of drama that is played out throughout the school year. Cheerleaders suck!
