They are forever wriggling around, rubbing their feet on things like matresses, which causes the socks to fall off, often never to be seen again. And it never stops; my three year old still looses socks, but only ever one. I don't know where they go, but we now have a collection of single socks, kept in the hope that one day their twins will return :-)

Babies lose socks because socks are basically a stretchy little tube that has nothing to hold it up except your heel, and babies feet are pudgy and the socks eventually make their way down and fall off through the babies' wiggling.

Older babies pull their socks off on purpose, for fun!

Socks that go higher work better, as do the soft little slippers with a bit of elastic at the ankle. Or just use jumpers with the feet attached... though my baby would pull his feet up out of them and wind up tangled up inside.

Just experiment with some different types of socks, some seem to stay on and others don't for unknown reasons. Same thing with hats.

My son disliked socks but my daughter hated them, still does.My girl is 6 and cant stand socks. I send her to school in socks and half the time they are in her school bag when she gets home.

I was doing laundy and sorted out the socks when she was 4. She grabbed up as many as she could hold screaming " socks are evil !!!!!!!!!" and ran and put them in the trash lol. I dont know what socks ever did to her lol.

LOL... this sooo reminds me of the time we went into the store with our little one and he kept kicking until he lost one shoe and one sock. So, I took off the remaining sock and shoe in hopes not to lose that one! When a woman asked me "why isn't your child wearing anything on their feet", I simply showed her the remaining sock and shoe and told her that it was to save the ones that he didn't kick off for when we go outside! I don't know if he had warm feet, but he certainly liked kicking and pushing his feet together!

Babies lose socks because they kick them off. If you really want to keep your baby's feet covered, opt for one piece outfits with feet (sleep-n-plays). If it's too warm for sleep-n-plays, don't worry about socks. Let him be barefoot. For outings, putting shoes on might help keep his socks on.

Because babies are always moving their little legs back and forth, up and down. Those tiny little socks just don't have a chance!

because socks are stretchy and their feet are tiny

that and babies don't have much control over their limbs and tend to "kick" socks off
