I know he can't play with anything less than 1 1/2 in diameter. I have to change him every 3 hrs, the bottle he's drinking from shouldn't have anything that's too hot in it, burp the baby, don't feed him grapes or anything

okay this is what to feed him:
• Iron-fortified cereals (rice, barley, wheat, oats, mixed cereals)
• Fruit cut into cubes or strips, or mashed
• Bite-size, soft-cooked vegetables (peas, carrots)
• Combo foods (macaroni and cheese, casseroles)
• Protein (egg yolk, pureed or finely ground meats and poultry, tofu, well-cooked and mashed beans)
• Finger foods (lightly toasted bread or bagels, small pieces of ripe banana, spiral pasta, teething crackers, low-sugar O-shaped cereal)
• Non-citrus juice

one year old do not have to be burped unless this is a special needs child. make sure s/he has a good nap. I would offer healthy food no soda or chips and cookies. Also hot dogs are a big choking hazard. Make sure the food you feed him is cut up small enough. 1yr olds can eat grapes. Cut them in little circles then cut the circles in half so you have tiny crescent moon shapes. provide them with actives dont just sit them in front of the tv all day.

He definitely doesn't need burping. He should be drinking from a sippy- some one year olds still take a bottle before a nap or bed, but most do not. One year olds can eat most things an adult can, just make sure it's cut up into cheerio-size pieces. He can probably eat Cheerios as long as he isn't allergic to wheat and isn't sick of them by now. My one year old loves baby goldfish crackers for a special snack and loves to listen to kids music and "dance" (he looks more like a weeble). I wouldn't recommend tv unless parents ok it, but even then I'd try to avoid it. TV can overstimulate a baby. Take him for a walk in his stroller, bring him to the park and push him in the baby swings (probably not ready for the slide-at least not alone). And you may not need to change him every 3 hours- by age 1, many babies urinate less frequently than they used to. Just check every hour or so to make sure he hasn't pooped and feel the front of the diaper to see how squishy it is- if it's squishy change it, if it's not, then he's probably fine. If it's been four hours, I'd change it. Have fun!

crikey are you shure the parent knows what they are getting into

babys of a year old shouldnt need to be burped as they are now active and the air comes up naturally -
play with baby - they love peek a boo games and rhymes
babys are cleverer than you think and do understand what you say to them - take him out for a walk for at least half hour at lunchtime -the fresh air does him good and it will help him sleep
Baby Einstein is fab they have cd's book and dvd video etc in shops or on sky for babys -
there is so much you can do - just keep your eyes on him and dont leave him alone for as long as you can help it - if he is crawling he will be into everything - so put up anything within reach that he shouldnt play with - keep him out of the kitchen

As for his bottle if you have to heat up his milk no more than 50 seconds in a microwave (they say not to do it but nearly every mum and dad does - I DID) and shake the bottle to even out the heat test it in your mouth and the back of your hand.

if you are stuck for something to do (which is almost impossible) go to a local baby toddler group ... or enlist in the help of a friend who has a baby too -

hard work but fun

First of all the child shouldn't be on a bottle any more he should be encouraged to drink out of a sippy cup during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bottles give children over 1 year tooth decay. They burp on their own. They are curious and like to get into all the drawers and cubbords. I would put safetly latches on these to keep the baby safe. If already walking they like to climb. Keep them close to you so you can keep them safe. They like to put every thing in their mouth (normal for a children under two) Don't reprimend them about this. Give him/her a teether or something safe to chew on. Baby is probobly teathing. Limit yourself from saying no to him all the time. Instead tell him what to do instead of what not to do. Because of their short memory, its best to put things or objects up high that you do not want the baby to get instead of saying "no "or other negative kind of discipline. The baby will probobly want to take a nap at noon or after noon depending on his temperment. At this age they love finger plays and dancing silly. They love the one to one attention when you read to them. Of course follow their lead on this.

Don't heat up drinks in the microwave as they contain hot spots which will scald. If you do shake well. Also put anything in reach out of reach if you still want your house in one piece!!!

Electricity is bad, deep water is bad, hot water is bad, cigars are pretty bad, and don't let them eat jalapenos until they are at least two.
